Donald Trumps approval rating jumps from historic lowsDonald Trump's approval rating is up 7 points since last month! Although that is great news, it still isn't very great. That is because this only lifts Trump's overall approval to 42 percent, which is really low for a president at this point in his tenure. That means that less than half of the population of The United States are actually with trump, which makes you wonder how he even got elected as president.

Therefore, I believe that the media and pop culture are the biggest influence on globalization. Now that people are starting to notice the digital divide more, they are starting to try to thin the digital divide. They have started giving out laptops and this type of technology to some countries that have never seen this type of thing before. Although these laptops were given as learning equipment they are still able to access the media and what is going on in other parts of the world, which I believe it is pretty great that we are getting the rest of our world connected and giving them opportunities, they have never had before.
Globalization has its positives and negatives to everywhere around the world. One of the biggest negatives there is, is all the slave labour that goes into making some of these companies and corporations items. There is many companies and corporations that outsource their work (getting another area or people to do the work for them) to a cheaper place, such as a third world country so they can make a much larger profit. This means that there are many people across the world working for less than a dollar an hour, to provide you with your items. Another negative on globalization I that it can assimilate and homogenize other cultures. Some cultures or groups may get in contact with others and find new ways of doing things and they will use these new ways and may skip out on tradition and this could also take away biodiversity of all our different groups and cultures. There are also many positives to globalization also, just the fact that we are bringing more people together and giving some countries opportunities that twenty years ago, they didn’t even know existed, is a great reason why globalization can be good. Honestly, I have mixed feelings about globalization, I believe that if we were to try and solve many of the negative aspects of globalization, it would be such an amazing thing. If we could get corporations to stop outsourcing all their work or at least pay these people more, that right there would make me be 100% for globalization. The culture aspect I mentioned earlier isn’t as much as a big deal for me as there will always be some people who are die hard for their culture and will never lose their identity. So overall, I think globalization is good, but I think it could also be great. In November of 2006, Nicholas Negroponte and a group of computer experts created a prototype computer known as 2B1 for their non-profit organization; One Laptop per Child. Their goal was to help people in developing countries cross the digital divide - by putting cheap, easy to maintain and use laptop computers into the hands of students. When the organization announced this development, five countries - Argentina, Brazil, Libya, Nigeria, and Thailand - had interest in equipping students with 2B1's.
This was more than 10 years ago, so, where are they now and how are they doing? Is this organization still up and running? Well, surprisingly this organization is doing really well, I say surprisingly because with all these new laptops coming out from Microsoft and Apple and other companies, one may have thought that they might not get enough interest or support to do this. But they have been going really good, in-fact they have made another model of computer for these students, it is known as xo laptop. This laptop is a lot faster and newer than the 2B1, but the 2B1 is still available. They have definitely expanded from their original five countries who were interested, now over 2 million students and teachers in 42 countries are learning with the xo computer today. I believe what this organization is doing is just amazing and beautiful. They are giving children and even adults chances to learn and educate themselves and others more than ever before. My fourth positive encounter was when my brother, sister-in-law and my nephew came over to our house for Christmas. (Actually a couple days after Christmas) After we had our family supper we decided to open the gifts. My brother and my sister-in-law are tight on money and no one expected anything from them but they got us all a gift card. I thought it was positive because no one was expecting anything from them and they still got us all something.
My third positive encounter was before Christmas when we were shopping for Christmas presents and we went to a kiosk to get a gift for my nephew and the guy there gave us a discount on the product. I thought that this was a nice encounter because he was a really nice person and he could see that we had a long and stressful day and he took our stress away and made us quite happy.
My second positive encounter was when it was secret santa and Olivia got me and it was nice because I got cool things and it was a good time. She was thoughtful about her presents and we got along really well.
My first positive encounter was at reconciliation when the priest talked to me. I thought it was nice and positive because he was nice and positive. Even though it was my first time I thought it was a nice encounter because it was positive.
My reconciliation experience was alright. It was really weird and awkward because I didn't really know what to do or say. I guess that for my first time it wasn't that bad. I don't think I would do it again if I had the choice. Its just not something I really enjoy or would do again.
On Chautaugua Day in Sexsmith I worked at the bouncy castles and helped supervise so that no kids got hurt and not to many kids went on at the same time. It was fun for the most part but it got really hot out. I didn't get to see the real parade, my mom and a couple of my friends were in it so I really wanted to see it
