SMART GOALS
What are smart goals? |
My smart goal |
SMART is actually a acronym for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-Based Goals. Many people use SMART goals to make sure that there goal is going to get achieved. If you were to base your goal around all of this you would be a lot more successful as you would know your goal a lot better. If you are ever feeling unmotivated about your goal and you just want to give up I just think about how if I finish this goal my future would be a lot more meaningful and I would have such a better life. In my opinion the best part of creating goals is the satisfaction you get when you complete them.
decision making strategiesOne of my decision making strategies is to use the power of elimination, if there is a lot of different ways something could turn out I would think about them long term. After analyzing the situation and figuring out which decisions would be bad, you can eliminate them from the decisions you are thinking about. After doing this enough times you will be left with just a couple of decisions to choose from.
Another one of my decision making strategies is to just ask for advice. If I am trying really hard to decide something that I know nothing about I would try to find someone who could really help me and show me how to make my decision based on their experience. |
My SMART Goal is to graduate college so I can be successful in life.
Specific- What I want to do is graduate college from University of Alberta. I am not quite sure what I want to take there but I will find that out closer to that day. Measurable- My goal will be measured in my grades and how good I am doing in school now and when I get to college. Achievable- My goal will be achievable because I am confident in myself that I will be able to graduate with decent grades. Realistic- My goal is very realistic because of what I said, I am academically advanced and I think that I will be that way in college too. Time-Based- My goal doesn't really have a timeline yet because I don't know how long ill actually be in college. If I ever get unmotivated to finish collage or high school I would just think about how good my life would be when I finish and all the opportunities I would have in life. Some obstacles that I might run into would be meeting some bad people on the way. Like people would would try to make me change my goals in life or people who would try to make my goals hard to achieve. One big obstacle that I know i'm going to run into is wanting to give up when it gets hard or wanting to just do bad work to get it over with. But when those problems come up i will just push through them and make sure that no one can stop me from achieving them. |
